Healthcare Insurance Reform: the ACA and beyond

As congress debates over a fitting replacement for the ACA, one idea would be to offer a robust public option that had been cut out of the original ACA legislation. A public option that employers or individuals to buy into Medicare. A system that already provides care for some of the sickest and eldest Americans and does so with administrative cost of less than 5%. Compare that with up to 35% for private insurers.

There is no such thing as a free market when it comes to health insurance.  Some form of insurance is a necessity. Americans should have the option to buy into an effective, proven plan that can control costs — a public option. The time has come to give this option a serious look.
