Support the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act

At OSBC we appreciate the urgency to transform our law enforcement system into an equitable, community-oriented force that eliminates racism at its root. We support our partners at ASBC in advocating, at the national level, for an economic model that works for all. This work requires the introduction of substantial policy solutions to increase accountability and reduce preventable deaths by law enforcement actions across the country, that’s why we urge for the prompt passage in Congress of H.R 1280 George Floyd Justice in Policing Act of 2021 and S. 492 Ending Qualified Immunity Act.

OSBC has signed on to the letter to our Senators urging them to support this legislation. Sign the letter.

Dear Senator:
As a constituent and business leader, I wanted to let you know I am joining a growing number of responsible business owners and investors who won’t stay quiet while young Americans like Daunte Wright fall victim to police brutality. Consequently, as one of the 250,000 proud members of the American Sustainable Business Council (ASBC), I am urgently demanding Congress to put an end to systematic racism in law enforcement and restore accountability by a passing H.R 1280 George Floyd Justice in Policing Act of 2021 and S. 492 Ending Qualified Immunity Act.
As the latest police murder victim, the case of Daunte Wright is a tragic reminder of how systemic racism prevails in underrepresented communities across the country. In fact, the Covid-19 pandemic unveiled a reality in which black and brown communities are disproportionately more vulnerable to fall ill, lose their jobs, and face the abusive and sometimes lethal treatment of law enforcement. While our country strives to heal from these devastating scenarios, it is essential to promote the introduction of comprehensive policy solutions that set ground for a system that truly works for all.
Both the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act of 2021 and the Ending Qualified Immunity Act, are solid mechanisms that put an end to police brutality by making police departments more accountable through the use of body cameras, incentivize bans on choke holds and carotid holds, and prohibit no-knock warrants in drug cases.
We’ve neglected this crisis for long enough! it’s time for business leaders and investors to mobilize against police brutality and demand effective policy solutions to put an end to this outrage.
Sincerely,
