Empowering voters with more choice in our local and state elections with Ranked Choice Voting

In 2022, only 24% of the voting age population selected the winners of Congressional races under our current election system.  That is an embarrassing low “voter consensus” that threatens our democracy.

Ranked choice voting doesn’t favor one party over another. It promotes all candidates to be civil in campaigns, pay attention to different viewpoints, and focus on issue problem solving. A functioning and stable government is the result.

Ranked choice voting also gives every voter a say in which candidate represents them regardless of who their first preference might be.  Voters end up with a consensus candidate who better represents the interests of the majority.  Watch this 1 ½ minute video to see how it works.

Ranked choice voting has bi-partisan support as a way of encouraging candidates to focus on issues and listening to all interests rather than attacking each other. The result is elected bodies that are less polarized and functioning governments. All good for democracy and businesses.

Some critics maintain that ranked choice voting is a Democratic ploy to “steal” elections from Republicans.  Listen to our webinar with Chris Saxman on March 1st and also read “Why Republicans Should Embrace Ranked-Choice Voting”.
